Top 10 Places for a Spring Holiday

With winter slowly leaving us, it’s time to think about where to go for your next holiday. For those wanting to get away from the cold, a Spring Holiday is a great option to find some sun. Not only that, but as it’s not such a popular travel time. So, you’ll be able to enjoy popular sites with fewer crowds and cheaper prices. But where should you go? Here are ten of our top picks.

Crete

If hiking is your thing, then this island is for you. Heading out from February to April means missing the huge summer crowds while enjoying temperatures of 20+ degrees. Spring holidays here are perfect for visiting tourist spots such as Knossos, and without those crowds there are no queues. The nightlife remains strong though if you head to Rethymnon or Chania.

Majorca

Always a popular destination, the largest of the Balearic Islands makes the perfect spring break. Even early in the year, temperatures are in the low 20s making this a great option for seaside lunches and strolls. The countryside is a riot of flowers, filled with orchards in blossom and stunning wildflowers. It’s a great place for hikes or cycling.

Corfu

Another Greek island on the list, this one sees the resorts quiet from February to May. However, Corfu Town is always lively offering quaint, cobbled streets to explore. There are boutiques and cafes galore here. Make your way further inland, and you can enjoy excellent panoramic hikes, castles and traditional villages.

Morocco

For guaranteed sun, Morocco has to be your go-to choice. Even in February, you’re going to enjoy 20+ temperatures, which only increase towards the 30s by May. If you want a relaxing time, book yourself a resort package complete with spar. But, if active holidays are your thing, then there are treks in the Atlas Mountains, local culture in Marrakech, and more.

Costa Brava

This coastal region of Catalonia is a stunning place to visit for its cliffs, coves and beaches. Springtime brings balmy 20+ temperatures, which mean you can enjoy the sun, but also head out for hikes without burning up. For nature lovers there are stunning coast paths to enjoy. And, if you need to fly in somewhere convenient, then Barcelona is just down the coast and worth a visit as well.

Seville

Arguably, this stunning Spanish city is actually at its best in spring. Seville is packed with orange trees. These, together with jasmine blossoms, combine to make a stunning scent wherever you go. Temperatures are suitably warm, so there’s plenty of sun to enjoy. Easy to fly into, Seville is the perfect city break – its narrow streets filled with tapas bars, boutiques and more. Not only that, but there are plenty of historical and cultural sites to visit including the Alcazar palace and Giralda bell tower.

Costa Blanca

One of the slightly cooler destinations earlier in the year, the Costa Blanca is nevertheless a stunning place to visit in spring. Its inland areas are full of rolling hills, which are immensely colourful thanks to the orchard blossoms and wildflowers. For nature lovers, the lack of crowds when enjoying these walks can be paradise.

Dubai

While this city is super hot in the summer, spring is a much more accessible climate. This city is still in the mid-20s in spring, rising to the 30s by the end of May. Of course, the world-famous skyscrapers are a draw, as are the numerous shopping malls that sprawl across the area. There is a historic quarter too. Or take the chance to venture into the desert.

Malta

Set in the Mediterranean, Malta is a great spring destination. It has an array of different options for you to enjoy. Want to hit the beach? Then this is an easy option. Alternatively, head into Valetta to see Megalithic temples. Out in the countryside, there are plenty of hiking opportunities. You can even take part in Easter processions or village festivals should you arrive slightly later in spring.

The Algarve

A truly heavenly spot to visit in the spring, the Algarve is packed with newly blossoming flowers and plants. It’s easy to get to with plenty of flights to Faro airport. Hitting this area earlier in the year means the beaches might be a little cool, but there’s nothing better than a brisk walk along the sands (all without crowds). The whole area is peaceful until around Easter, but the villages and resorts are still excellent places to visit in the spring.

Wherever you choose to go in the spring, be prepared. Book your parking with Parkos, then pack your bags, head off to the sun and relax.
