Travel directions to Venice Marco Polo Airport

Navigating to Venice Marco Polo requires a bit of attention because the airport is located on the mainland (in the Tessera area), not on the islands of Venice itself. Good planning prevents you from accidentally driving towards the bridge to Venice City or confusing it with the nearby Treviso Airport.

Whether you are arriving from the A4 (Padua/Milan) or the A27 (Belluno), your key reference point is the Mestre Bypass (Tangenziale di Mestre - A57). Take the specific exit marked "Aeroporto" and follow the link road that connects to the SS14 Triestina. Most Parkos parking partners are located along this road or Via Orlanda, just minutes from the terminal.

Estimated travel times in normal traffic:

Milan -> Venice Marco Polo: 270 km / approx. 3 hours
Bologna -> Venice Marco Polo: 165 km / approx. 1 hour 50 min
Verona -> Venice Marco Polo: 120 km / approx. 1 hour 30 min
Trieste -> Venice Marco Polo: 150 km / approx. 1 hour 40 min

Rules and tips for drivers

Before you start your journey, spend five minutes checking your car: lights, indicators, tyre pressure, and fluid levels. A well-maintained car ensures a safer trip. Remember that the Mestre Bypass and the A4 can be very busy during peak hours, and tolls apply on almost all approach roads.

Where to refuel

Filling up on the motorway is convenient but expensive. We recommend filling your tank before entering the motorway network or looking for petrol stations in the commercial areas of Mestre before reaching the airport parking zones. LPG is available, but please check the location of pumps along your specific route.

Roadside Assistance

Breaking down is never fun, but being prepared helps. If it happens, pull over safely, wear your high-visibility vest, and call for help. The ACI roadside assistance number is 803 116. On the motorway, it is often best to use the orange SOS phones which automatically pinpoint your location.

Speed Limits

Do not rush; your flight is waiting, but safety comes first. The standard limits are 130 km/h on motorways and 110 km/h on main roads. Be careful: on the Mestre Bypass (Tangenziale), the limit often drops to 90 km/h or less due to traffic density. Always watch the signs.
