Driving to Bologna Airport
You have booked your flight and your Parkos parking space. Now it is time to drive. Bologna is a crucial highway hub in Italy, making the airport very accessible but also subject to heavy traffic. Planning ahead is the secret to arriving relaxed.
Marconi Airport is served directly by the Tangenziale (Ring Road) of Bologna. Whether you are arriving from the A1 (Milan/Florence), the A13 (Padua), or the A14 (Ancona), you will need to merge onto the Tangenziale and take Exit 4 bis. The shuttle car parks are often located in the nearby industrial zones (Lippo or Bargellino), which are easily accessible by following the local signs after the exit.
Average driving times (without traffic jams):

Before you leave: Checks and Tips
A quick check of your car (oil, lights, tyres) is always a good idea before tackling the Bologna motorway junction. Also, ensure you have sufficient credit on your Telepass or cash/cards ready for tolls, as all access motorways are toll roads.
Refuelling
You can easily find petrol and diesel everywhere in Italy. However, prices on the motorway are notoriously higher. We advise you to fill up in the city or on state roads before entering the Ring Road. If you travel on LPG, remember that many stations are not self-service and may close in the evening.
Car Trouble?
If your car breaks down, do not panic. Move to the hard shoulder or an emergency bay, put on your reflective vest, and call for help. The ACI number is 803 116. The roads around Bologna are very busy, so be extremely careful if you have to get out of the vehicle.
Speed Limits and Cameras
The motorway network around Bologna (A1, A14) often uses "Tutor" systems to monitor average speed. Stick to the 130 km/h limit to avoid fines. On the Tangenziale (Ring Road), the limit is usually lower (often 90 km/h); pay close attention to the electronic signs.
